THE ARCH: PROJECT YOUTH MISSION STATEMENT
BRIDGING THE GAP FOR OUR YOUNG PEOPLE THROUGH EXCELLENCE, RESPONSIBILITY,
PUBLIC SERVICE AND COMMITMENT TO OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH FAITH AND THE ARTS
THE ARCH: Project Youth is a non-profit organization that is dedicated to engaging at risk young people through a program which encompasses all areas of the arts through faith, mentoring, teaching, music, dance, videography, audiography, and theater arts.
When we say ”at risk”, do you think only “inner city”? Well, think again. Guns, drugs, gangs; they aren’t just in the “bad” neighborhoods. They’re in your neighborhood, too. There are troubled kids, kids with too much time on their hands and not enough purpose in every neighborhood. The kids have too many empty hours with no guidance because parents have to work. They feel alone. In many cases they’re frightened and angry. Maybe they blame their parents, maybe they blame the government, or maybe they blame God. The bottom line is that these kids are prime targets for predators, gangs, and people who will use them and exploit them and harden them to the point that they become users and exploiters. It’s a vicious cycle that we can stop. One child at a time. We can stop it now.
At a time when our city is in the worst economic and social crisis in its history, we are providing a source of pride and accomplishment for our children and their families. These children will have a sense of responsibility to themselves and their teams, their teachers, their parents and their community. They will learn the value of hard work, the steps to success, and the sheer unadulterated joy of performing with others who share their passion.
THE ARCH will also teach them how to carry themselves in an interview situation, how to write a resume, how to dress correctly, diction, self confidence with a healthy dose of humility, and an understanding of the need to give back to the community in gratitude for the gifts that have been bestowed upon them by God.
THE ARCH will give these kids a place to learn the life skills necessary to become successful members of our community. They will be respectful, responsible, productive people. We intend to offer these kids a constructive, joyous alternative to the destructive influences that might otherwise have preyed upon them. We can replace despair with hope, loss with wonder. No matter how humble or privileged their beginnings, with the knowledge of how to get from one step to the next, how to determine a good choice from a poor one, these kids are going to make it. We are going to arm them with good decision making skills, good work ethics, and a love and respect for themselves and others and a will to succeed. We will create strong, loving, creative members of society, the kind of people who can change the face of Las Vegas forever. This is our legacy. Help us create it. The time is now. We are THE ARCH: Project Youth and we will change these children’s fate for the better, one child at a time.

RAUL BIBIANO has been a successful businesman, as well as a working musician in Las Vegas for more than 30 years. He has owned his own businesses, all of which prospered under his guidance, and all of which he eventually sold for a considerable profit. He has performed on the Las Vegas Strip with various bands in virtually every showroom, and in 1995 formed the hugely successful band Cat Daddy, which played for 5 successive years at Balley's. They have subsequently played all over the country until Mr. Bibiano decided that his touring days were behind him and relinquished the helm to other capable hands.
While music has always been his first love, his enterpreneurial spirit has led him in the direction of business, which led him to mentoring young people. As the father of five extremely successful children he strongly believes that instilling a sense of right and wrong and a sense of purpose at an early age is a key factor in a child's development of self confidence and self worth. "The best thing I ever did for my kids was making them earn what they got." is something you will hear him say frequently. He taught them values, and he taught them to stand up for what they believe in. Even today, they still visit their grandmother every week. How many of us can say that about our grown children?
His love of children, his love of music, and his business accumen were a natural segue to THE ARCH. He saw a need that was not being addressed, knew that it was a way to salvage a large number of at risk children, and started laying the groundwork for this program. Many headaches, hours of eyestrain, and two years of paperwork have gotten him where we stand now; on the brink of a new, bright day. As the founding father of THE ARCH, we just couldn't have done better. His guidance will lead us for decades to come and prepare the way for the next generation to follow in his footsteps.
LAURIE MIDDLETON is a quiet woman, rather unassuming at first meeting; but don't underestimate her reticence. Beneath that quiet demeanor beats the heart of a tiger. This is a woman who has devoted her life to the cause of the underdog. She has championed the underpriviliged, the handicapped, the elderly and the working poor. She is fearless in her mission to help those who cannot help themselves.
Laurie has raised two children on her own she has gone to school, worked as an orthodontic technician, and she still found time to help those less fortunate. Now she is one of our champions at THE ARCH. She is the person who keeps the schedules, makes sure the computers operate properly, makes sure the video equpiment is working properly and a thousand other things that only she knows how to do. In short, LAURIE is the "it" girl. Her tireless efforts have pushed our project farther, faster than we could ever have gotten had we not had her guiding hand. She will not rest until a project is finished; and not only finished but finished perfectly. Her energy and enthusiasm amazes and encourages us all.
LAURIE comes to THE ARCH with a strong background in running both for-profit and non-profit ventures, with a solid background in organizing events, marketing to the local community and achieving key goals. Having said this, her greatest hope is that she gets to be a mother figure for a lot of children who may be lacking that person in their lives. We think those children will be blessed to have her. We know we are.
